We know there’s a lot of misinformation floating around about CBD so here’s a round up of the commonly asked questions to help you make informed decisions about your wellbeing.
What is CBD?
CBD is one of the 80+ cannabinoids found in hemp and marijuana plants. CBD is more prevalent in hemp than it is in marijuana. As it will not get you high, there are many potential therapeutic uses.
Does CBD come from marijuana or hemp? What is the difference between the two? What about hempseed oil?
Marijuana and hemp are different varieties of the same species of plant (Cannabis Sativa). CBD is found in both but in different concentrations.
In marijuana, CBD is found in concentrations around 10%. Contrastingly, in hemp, CBD is found in higher concentrations, typically of 20% or more, with very little THC. In order to be classified as an industrial hemp plant, the THC content must be less than 0.3%, otherwise it is technically a marijuana plant.
It’s important not to confuse hempseed oil, which contains no CBD, with hemp extract, which contains CBD. If a product only contains hempseed oil it has no CBD.
Is CBD legal?
CBD is derived from industrial hemp and is currently federally legal. The 2018 Farm Bill clarifies that hemp and hemp product sales are legal across the country, as long as the THC content is less than 0.3%. The Bill also removed hemp from the Controlled Substances Act which means the cultivation and sale of hemp is no longer a federal crime.
Will Harmony Hemp™ products get me high?
Our products will not get you high. Isolate products contain zero THC, Broad Spectrum products have minuscule trace amounts of THC & Full Spectrum products contain less than 0.3% THC, but not enough to induce a psychoactive or ‘high’ effect. In order to find out exactly what the THC content is in any given product, consult the Certificate of Analysis, or COA, usually found by scanning a product’s QR code (found on the packaging).
Do your products contain THC?
Our Full Spectrum products contain trace amounts of THC (less than 0.3% as per the federal legal limit) along with a multitude of beneficial compounds found in the hemp plant like terpenes and flavonoids.
What are cannabinoids?
Cannabinoids are naturally occurring chemical compounds found in the human body (endocannabinoids) and in plants (phytocannabinoids), specifically hemp and cannabis.
What is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?
The ECS is a group of receptors, enzymes and endocannabinoids which together form a communication network within the human body. This system is responsible for keeping a wide array of bodily functions working harmoniously. The two main types of receptors are CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are mostly found in the brain and central nervous system and CB2 receptors are most concentrated in the immune system, peripheral nervous system and skin. Mammals produce two main cannabinoids: Anandamide and 2AG.
How much do I need to put on to feel a difference?
For some people, the ECS needs to be stimulated on a recurring basis to feel effects of CBD. We recommend using our products for a period of time in order to determine if they work for you. When first starting out, most people don’t know what to expect and often overlook when CBD is beginning to help. Since there is no “high” to report, many miss the effects of CBD. Anecdotal evidence shows the ‘feeling’ CBD produces is a subtle calming effect. After several uses, many users report CBD ‘takes the edge off’ within minutes of application.
Can CBD oil cure any condition?
Though we cannot guarantee improvements for specific conditions, and do not make medical claims for our products, we recommend you follow the instructions on the label and see results for yourself. We encourage you to also research the topic. You’ll find studies on the effects and benefits of CBD in various conditions. Our products are not intended to treat, cure or prevent any disease, although it is possible those suffering from one or a variety of ailments could see benefits from ingesting or applying CBD.
Can I take too much CBD?
We are not doctors and are not knowledgable about your particular health condition and the medications you are currently taking. So, it’s important to get medical advice from your physician.
What’s the best application of CBD: Tinctures, Soft Gels, Extracts, Edibles, Topicals?
There is no one answer to this question. Customers new to CBD often begin with tinctures (drops or sprays) and branch out from there. Typically soft gels and edibles provide the easiest serving sizes. Topicals are usually ideal for localized application to help ease joint and muscle soreness. The only way you will know which application method works best for you is through consistent trial of various products.
What kinds of tests do you perform on your products?
All our products are tested by third party laboratories. You can access our lab sheets here. We test to ensure our products are free of heavy metals, bacteria, mycotoxins and pesticides.
Will I have an issue passing a drug test?
Though some of our products contain trace amounts of THC, it is up to the customer to understand what they may be screened for. We recommend you contact your testing facility to find out which cannabinoids are present on their tests. We cannot guarantee you will pass a drug test.
Do you take returns?
You may return your product within seven days of receiving it and you will receive a full refund of the price paid for the product. You must return the product to us and pay the cost of the return, unless the product(s) are not those you ordered, in which case we will bear the cost of returning the products in question.
